New beginnings such as the first day of school or starting in a new grade with new teachers and peers can be hard for children to manage. The fear of the unknown and separation from parents, potentially for the first time, can be overwhelming and consequently create anxiety.
While some separation anxiety is normal and common in children who haven’t parted from their parents before, it can be challenging to deal with. This is also true for children who have difficulty managing change in their environment.
